About Doman Babies
Dear parents,
I'm Cheryl

My hope is that through this early brain training program, every parent is confident they are giving their baby just what they neurologically need and impart the joy of learning every step of the way.
This is what Doman Babies is all about.

My Story
My Perspective
Glenn Doman and The Institutes dedicated 70 years of their lives to give us early learning programs with science and heart, and it gave me the confidence to make the most of every moment with my baby.
The programs helped me understand how the brain develops and what can be done to increase and enhance that development for my baby. I learned how to connect with my baby in a way that will give her a better brain so she can learn better and faster with joy.
What’s more, even as my baby grew and my lifestyle changed, the programs changed with us. I got to decide on the structure of the program, the frequency, intensity and duration that works for my family life and still deliver on what is best for the baby.
This is why the Doman learning journey can be joyous and Doman babies love learning.
The program works around parents for the child. For parents, it is less homework, more heartwork.
There is no magic in the techniques, just parents being your loving self as you consistently use the program to create and share the learning experience with your baby.
While the program is there to support parents through early childhood, what matters is not the techniques of the program but that parents bond with their baby in this learning journey.
My Passion
I want to share with more parents the Doman teaching philosophies that empowered me to be the best teacher for my children and inspired our joyful learning journey from birth.
Parents, you will realise that you are not trying to be a teacher, you have always been their teacher, the very best they have got. You were the first face they saw, the first voice they heard, and the first place they will be learning from.
I know you worry about the developmental milestones of your baby. That is normal.
Depending on the natural gifts of your baby, they will show more flair for some parts of the program more than others. That is also perfectly normal.
Our role as a parent is to give them different developmental experiences from the program and let them discover the joy of learning. Let go of the idea that they might fall behind because in a positive learning environment at home, your baby will always thrive. Focus on being present during the developmental experiences and the rest will follow.
This is what our Doman babies will remember about your parenting in these crucial early years. They may or may not remember every single word or dot card you share with them, but they will certainly remember how they felt when you taught them.
My Philosophy
The interplay between brain development and early childhood development as a whole is nothing short of remarkable. In my experience, they are two sides of the same coin, forever intertwined and influencing each other.
The initial years of a child's life are a hotspot for rapid cognitive development. During this time, the brain forms an incredible number of new connections, laying the groundwork for future learning and behaviour. The smallest acts of encouragement from a parent or trusted figure today, could set the stage for a love of learning, exploring, and curiosity that extends well beyond their schooling years.
This is what I’m committed to helping parents achieve through our Doman Babies program. Our structured classes not only keep pace with but enrich this incredible phase of brain development, encouraging your infants and toddlers to expand their horizons. Sensory experiences, motor skills training, and emotional intelligence building activities form the bedrock for a well-rounded early childhood brain training experience.
Through this, we ensure that your child’s brain is nurtured in a way that aids holistic growth and sets a solid foundation for lifelong learning.
Positive Parenting
Positive parenting is a term that’s been gaining traction – and for good reason. It’s an approach that emphasises building active, empathetic, sensitive, reflective, and compassionate relationships between parents and children. It also recognises that parents are human too, and we can experience stress and make mistakes throughout the process of child rearing.
But what exactly does that mean when it comes to early childhood development?
When raising an infant, toddler, or preschooler, positive early learning parenting entails understanding your child's developmental needs and adapting your parenting style to support them effectively. It means taking an active role in your child's education, not just by teaching them ABCs and 123s, but by being their emotional support, encouraging their interests, and helping them navigate challenges to build emotional resilience.
In a competitive environment like Singapore, it's easy for parents to focus solely on academics. However, positive parenting entails a self-reflection of your own, as you’ll have to recognise that each kid is wholly unique, and needs their own tailored environment to flourish. With the application of the right brain training and positive parenting techniques, you can instil in your child a deep and genuine joy for learning that transcends textbooks and exams. This balanced approach will help to equip your child with the life skills necessary for true success beyond the classroom.
Through positive parenting, we can achieve a fine balance between encouraging academic excellence and fostering emotional intelligence, ensuring our children not only succeed but also thrive.
Frequently Asked Questions About Early Childhood Development
What is early childhood development in Singapore?
The early childhood development landscape in Singapore is vast and varied, comprising public and private preschools and kindergartens, as well as optional early learning enrichment programmes. The first six years of a child’s life are crucial to their brain development, and many early childhood educators believe that a balanced, enriched, and sensory-rich environment is crucial to giving them the best start possible. Brain training programs like Doman Babies aim to enrich existing preschool and kindergarten programmes by applying tried-and-true philosophies to stimulate a child's cognitive, emotional, and physical growth. Our focus lies not in achieving academic milestones but fostering a lifelong love for learning and development that will continue through the toddler years and beyond.
How does positive early learning parenting benefit your child?
Positive early learning parenting can play a pivotal role in shaping your child's future. The aim of positive parenting is to deepen a child’s innate capability to learn, love, and explore, while building their trust in their parents and other trusted adults. This is crucial during the infant, toddler, and preschooler years, where a parent’s influence sets the tone for how the child approaches learning and interaction with others throughout their life. When parents actively engage in early learning through positive parenting techniques, it doesn't just boost academic skills but also builds emotional intelligence and social skills as well. Providing such a nurturing environment can also help your child develop healthy self-esteem, confidence, and resilience skills that go beyond academics.
